Overview

Hop is an SSH terminal client for iPhone. This policy explains what data the app handles and, just as importantly, what it doesn't.

Data collection

Hop does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with Caritos or any third party. The app has no backend server, no analytics, and no tracking or advertising SDKs of any kind.

What's stored on your device

• Host, port, and username for each host you save are stored locally using iOS's standard app storage.
• Each host's password is stored as its own item in the iOS Keychain, Apple's secure credential store — the same mechanism used by Safari and other system apps. It is encrypted at rest by iOS and is never stored in plain text.
• Each server's SSH host key is remembered the first time you connect, so Hop can warn you if it ever changes.

None of this data ever leaves your device except as part of the SSH connections you initiate yourself.

Network connections

When you tap a saved host, Hop opens a direct, encrypted SSH connection from your device to that server. This connection goes straight to your server — it does not pass through any server operated by Caritos.

Permissions

Hop does not request access to your camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, or any other sensitive iOS permission.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date above.
